I just bought 2gb of pc4200 DDR2 memory to upgrade my system, but if I mix it with the old memory I can get 3gb of PC3200 action going on. Any reason I Would want slower but more ram for gaming or apps?

i doubt you'll see any benefit from 3gb.. just go with the 2gb of faster ram.

Apps that may benefit from additional RAM:

CAD/ CAM
Photoshop/ other image editing software
VMWare Virtual Machines
large Databases
...

However, the benefit depends on a lot of factors. Unless you routinely use these apps, you are likely better off with 2GB of faster RAM.
