Clean XP Install

First off, when I say, 'is it ok', I don't mean if its legal, I mean is it gonna throw up any problems with the install and activation.

I've just tried cleaning a laptop. With AV & spyware removal tools, not soap & water. Long story short, Windows is in a right mess, its usable, but its not well!

Is it ok to do a clean install on the laptop with the oem disk for my pc? I mean I have legitimate product keys for both the laptop & pc.
