Double click

When I doubleclick say on my C drive, a search window pops up automatically instead of it opening. When I right click, the first option is search and not open. I don't know how it got like this. ANy ideas?

Someone told me in another forum that it might have to do with the registry? Any ideas anyone? This is seriously frustrating and annoying. I'd rather not reformat.

Scan your computer for malware. check my sig. This sounds like a typical hijacker to me.
