Just started happening a few days ago for me.

I go to various web pages and as Windows is loading up an image, i goes to 100% CPU and then it freezes the page. I close explorer and it works fine. I can have mutiple pages open, and I clos ethe 100% one, and the rest stay fine. This doesnt happen all the time, just for random images at random times ( i also deleted all temp files and reinstallled Java/Flash)

I loaded up Firefix, and it goes to 100% usage anytime there is an animated GIF file.

Im running NOD32 and it hasnt found a vorus, as well as AD AWARE latest version.

Any ideas here people, ive searched MSDN and cant find a proper search term or a good result.

Somethign is causing my IE to falter. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing it to no avail as well.

Can anyone help, mucho appreciated!

on aonther note, ive got Win XP, an AMD xp 64 with DEP enabled.

WHEN I right click on an imafe in Firefox its SLOW to bring up the menu and edit it. It seems to be a TOTAL windows issue with how it's dealing with pictures. Is there a file that deals with images? If so, mine must be corrupt?!?

I can re-format, but would like to know the cause!

That's a firefox bug. Are you sure it's not Flash animation? I would search for 100% CPU Firefox just like that on google. Millions of results. But it is a bug. Update to the newest firefox and try installing this http://flashblock.mozdev.org/installation.html .

heres an interesting twist. I installed the new NVIDIA forceware and video drivers. Problem went away. Firefox glitch went away, and no hangups in Explorer. Restarted my comp this morning, and its back to normal.

Im fearing it's something far beyond anything I can troubleshoot! It ISNT that normal firefox flash bug though, i looked into that, this is shared between firefix and IE. I think the file that reads any kind of image in windows got corrupted, but I have no idea what or where it may be!
